"Dream Big, Read!" Begins In June!

 The weather is heating up and so  are plans for this year’s “Dream Big, Read!” Summer Library Program.
SLP 2012 is going to be full of fun events for every member of the family, from weekly  programs and special guest performers for kids of all ages to our Arts and Crafts attacks,CSI Boscobel, Artists Trading Cards and “Re-imagine you Library” events for tweens, teens and adults. Here's a brief look at our jam-packed summer events schedule:
The Summer Library Reading program for children from pre-kindergarden thru 6th grade, begins June 13th with "Creatures of the Night" and finishing up August 8th with "Swimming Under the Stars" Two themed programs will be held every Wednesday and feature age-appropriate reading and story telling, sing-a-longs, crafts, activities, snacks and a selection of books that can be checked out to take home Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade summer programs are Wednesday mornings from 10-10:30, 3rd grade-5th grade programs are Wednesday evenings from 5-5:30. Parents are encouraged to stop by the library and register early.
Tweens and Teens and  are invited to drop in for another summer of Arts-n-Crafts Attacks, every Saturday morning from 11am -Noon, beginning  June 16th. This summer we'll be creating art and amazing crafts with paint,markers, found objects, yarn, fabrics, recycled materials, stamps, chalk, glue, paper, fingerpaint, the list goes on and on! Special guests include some of Boscobel's best artists and crafters who's share tips and techniques to make you go wow and your project poppin' fresh. All supplies and snacks provided.
For kids of all ages from ten to one hundred, we have contests and challenges you can do on your own time all summer long, no matter where you are! These include:

 CSI Boscobel: Mystery's lurking at the library! What happened to George Hildebrand's mysterious brother Hugo who disappeared in 1925? Why has his passport just been discovered stashed away in the stacks?  Clues lead everywhere around Boscobel and -who knows?-- maybe around the globe and beyond!. Will you figure out whodunnit and win big prizes and everlasting fame as CSI Boscobel's top agent? The brave and curious can register and pick up a copy of Hugo's dossier beginning June 13th!

Artists’ Trading Cards Like to doodle,paint,write, collage, create?  Sign up to join in the fun making, collecting and sharing Artists’ Trading Cards this summer. Stop by the library to see some of the great cards on display now and pick up supplies to create yours.

Re-Imagine Your Library! 2013 will be  our library's 100th Anniversary and we're already busy thinking about the next hundred years! How do we fit into your imagination?  The “Re-imagine Your Library” Art Event invites you to show us-in pictures, photos, videos, words or songs-- how you see your library now, and envision us in the future .Winning entries will be eligible to become the official library graphic /logo for our centennial celebration.  For complete details, stop by the library today.

Traveling Troll TeamBack by popular demand, our team of traveling trolls is ready to trek across the globe with you! Before you head out on that summer trip or vacation, stop by the library and pick up a travelling troll, complete with backpack, credentials and  trip log to document your adventures together. Trolls who return with the best vacation pictures  share a pot of prizes with their travelling companions! Stop by the library to see the Troll's vacation album from last summer.

Summer Book Sale July 12-14 We're already loaded from floor to ceiling with books, videos, magazines, puzzles and other great bargains for our annual sale. Volunteers are needed to help unpack and set up!
