Reading, Voting, Storytime and More

With election day on November 4th just two weeks away, its time to get ready to  vote! Need information about the candidates, your voting district, current voter ID rules or where to register? Check out this blog's Get Out & Vote page for a list of resources and articles that can help you decide which mid-term candidates are the best choices. or stop by the library and we'll show you how to find answers any questions you may have.  Keep in mind that the outcome of midterm elections has more impact on the overall well being of the average citizen and community than the results of major election years. Exercise your hard earned rights and democratic freedoms, get informed, get registered and get out and vote on Nov 4th.

Fall pre-k storytime kicks off the week of October 20th with two regular weekly programs. Join children's librarian Gina Schmitz on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm and again on Wednesday mornings at 10 am for a fun and educational program of reading, listening, singing and moving designed to get your little one's attention and introduce them to the wonderful world of books. Storytime continues weekly through December 10th. For a complete schedule of storytime programs, please stop by or call the library

Tuesday evening this week  the library's adult book club, Frieda's Readers  enjoyed a lively and laugh-filled discussing of Fannie Flagg's latest offering, The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion. Take a loving Polish family, their gas station and  four good looking sisters, throw in  daredevil circus acts, flying machines, and the The Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs)  corps who flew airplanes under the direction of the US Air Force during World War II  and watch a great story of love and courage emerge. Frieda's Readers thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to next month's read, Walking Across Egypt by Clive  Edgerton.  Copies of the book are available for checkout at the library. Anyone can come to join in the bookclub discussions, there's no cost to attend and there's something for everyone to enjoy. Bookclub meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the library reading room.
