So what's Imagination Library? Some years ago, famous Country Western singer Dolly Parton decided that she wanted to put books in the hands of every child, to give them an early learning advantage before they started school. This program took off across the U.S., and with the help of generous funding partners like United Way, the program now mails books to children all around the world.
Families in sponsored regions may sign up any child age 4 years 9 months or younger to receive a free, high quality book in the mail, once a month, until the child turns 5. There's no income limit or other qualification needed to join the program. Just sign your child up and keep your mailing address up-to-date if you move. That's it.
At the launch party, Julie Nelson from Great Rivers United Way will talk about how the program works and the important funding role United Way plays in making books available in our area. She'll also be on hand to assist families with signing up for the program and to answer any questions you might have.
If you can't make the launch party, no worries! The Boscobel library will have sign up brochures available that include the registration form. Or, save a stamp - online registration is free and easy using a library computer or your mobile device. Our Boscobel staff are happy to help you get started and answer your questions.
We look forward to seeing you and the kids on February 11th from 4 to 5:00 p.m. for a fun and informative library program that helps you to build a free home library for your littlest readers, a great way to give them a head start on learning, and on life!
